What are Fasteners?

Fasteners are hardware devices that mechanically join or affix two or more objects. They are ubiquitous across industries like energy, electronics, machinery, and construction.Common types include bolts, nuts, screws, washers, and pins. Bolts require nuts for use, while screws can fasten parts alone or with nuts. Washers increase contact area and prevent damage to connected components. Materials often include stainless steel, carbon steel, or alloy steel.Notable for their diverse specifications and performance uses, fasteners have high levels of standardization, serialization, and generalization. Some form non-permanent joints, allowing disassembly without component damage; others, like rivets, create permanent connections. Though small, they are critical for ensuring structural and equipment stability and safety.
